Sankalpa – or how to enhance your life with magic

Intention is the starting point of every dream. It is the creative power that fulfils all of our needs, whether for money, relationships, spiritual awakening, or love. Everything that happens in the universe begins with intention. When I decide to buy a birthday present, wiggle my toes, or call a friend, it all starts with intention. That is why goal setting works!

You are what your deepest desire is. As your desire is, so is your intention. As your intention is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.” | The Upanishads

An intention is a directed impulse of consciousness that contains the seed form of that which you aim to create. Like real seeds, intentions can’t grow if you hold on to them. Only when you release your intentions into the fertile depths of your consciousness can they grow and flourish.

How does it work?

 1.     Sync in with higher consciousness

Most of the time our mind is caught up in thoughts, either memories, forecasting or dreaming (about 80,000 thoughts per day!!). Beyond this noisy internal dialogue is a state of pure awareness, called: higher consciousness, cosmic intelligence, unified field, or even the gap. We can enter that state of spaciousness, stillness and pure consciousness with mindful movement, pranayama, journaling, dancing and any other activities that assist us in transcending the trap of our mind. Meditation however is one of the most powerful tools to enter the special state in which to plant your seeds of intention.

2.     Release Your Intentions and Desires

“If one does not know to which port they sail, no wind is favourable.” | Seneca

Once you’re established in a state of restful awareness, release your intentions and desires. The best time to plant your intentions is during the period after meditation/ after a liberating yoga practice, while you remain in the same powerful vibrations of the unified field of all possibilities. After you set an intention, let it go—simply stop thinking about it. Continue this process for a few minutes after your practice each day.

3.     Remain Centred in a State of Restful Awareness

Intention is much more powerful when it comes from a place of contentment than if it arises from a sense of lack or need. Stay centred and refuse to be influenced by other people’s doubts or criticisms. Your higher Self knows that everything is all right and will be all right, even without knowing the timing or the details of what will happen. It’s also important to start where you are, embracing your current scenario, i.e. values, doubts, challenges, gifts.

4.     Detach from the Outcome

Be aware of how you phrase your intention. Ask yourself: what would it feel like if this thing was part of my reality? Is this intention truly aligned with my purpose? Would the realisation of this intention help me feel fully self-expressed? We often cover up our true desires with fears, doubts and insecurity, which means we aren’t actually trusting in our power, and in the kindness of the universe. This can also manifest via a certain rigidity towards the unknown outcome of the intention. Intend for everything to work out as it should, then let go and allow opportunities and openings to come your way. Remember that everything that you want, wants you too! And that the universe is always listening.

“Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” |  Jesus.

 5.     Celebrate the synchronicity

There’ll be times when things are too coincidental to be mere coincidence. Things fall into place and the intention becomes tangible (remember Eve’s example in the workshop ‘Magic’. She shared her not harmful and quite fortunate car accident which allowed her to get the brand-new car her budget didn’t allow before the insurance reimbursed her of the damages). Celebrate these affirmations showing that you’re on the right track. Use them as markers to go back to when you’re feeling down, and keep moving forward with an eye open for the next synchronistic event — when intention meets reality.

6.     Let the Universe Handle the Details

Your focused intentions set the infinite organising power of the universe in motion. Trust that Cosmic Intelligence is always orchestrating the complete fulfilment of your desires. The outcome that you try so hard to force may not be as good for you as the one that comes naturally. You have released your intentions into the fertile ground of pure potentiality, and they will bloom when the season is right.
